The SOLDIER
is more than ever the “key player” in the
efficiency of the Armed Forces and in the success of their
defence or peace keeping missions of a country.
Thus nowadays, and above all with the quasi general professionnalisation
of the Armed Forces, satisfying the rightful aspirations
for comfort of the soldiers is becoming a major venture
in the success of their demanding missions.
The quality of food and the conditions of work and sleep
are 2 primordial elements which tend to the satisfaction
and therefore to the efficiency of the soldier on theatres
of operations.
World-wide acknowledged specialist when it comes down
to refrigerated containers and specific air conditioners
intended to an intensive in the field utilisation, ZHENDRE
puts its 50 year-long experience at the disposal of the
Armed Forces in order to provide them with sturdy, reliable
equipments which characteristics closely match their requirements.
It is in 1950 that ZHENDRE designed,
developed and manufactured its first autonomous refrigerated
container, that is to say equipped with its own power
source.
During the 50’s, ZHENDRE supplied
autonomous refrigerated containers of all sizes to shipping
companies as well as to the oil industry.
In 1959, ZHENDRE took part in the famous “BERLIET-TENERE”
Mission which rallied ALGIERS to FORT LAMY (today called
N’DJAMENA) in Chad.
During this long journey, which included the crossing
of the TENERE desert through sands and tracks, a ZHENDRE
refrigerated container assured, without failing, the preservation
of the food destined to the members of the mission. This
gave rise to an invaluable experience feedback.
As from 1960, whilst pursuing equipping
the oil camps, namely in South Algeria, ZHENDRE began
to supply refrigerated containers to the French Army.
These containers have been deployed on the most various
sites in Chad, Central African Republic, Mauritania, Senegal,
Gabon, Ivory Cost, etc.
The United Nations, as from 1985 with
UNIFIL in Lebanon, also took on the “ZHENDRE”
refrigerated containers in order to equip their peace
keeping missions.
Today, around a dozen Foreign Armies utilize the “ZHENDRE”
refrigerated containers and namely :

Between 1950 and 2004 – thus
over half a century – ZHENDRE designed, developed,
manufactured and supplied several thousands of refrigerated
containers of all sizes, complying with the most varied
technical specifications, but almost all of them destined
to intensive in the field utilisations under, most of
time, extreme climatic conditions ranging from -20 to
+55°C.
In addition to refrigerated containers designed to preserve
foodstuffs, ZHENDRE has manufactured, for several armies,
variants in “POST-MORTEM” versions for the
storage and the repatriation of corpses, as well as
in “MEDICAL” configurations for the storage
of vaccines and medicines.
Within the scope of the air conditioning for military
purposes, ZHENDRE which also carries out its activity
in the air conditioning area (please refer to the ZENITHAIR
rubric of our website) has designed and developed a
complete range of tent air conditioners and also manufactures
air conditioners destined to equip Mobile Technical
Cabs commonly called SHELTERS.
Consequently to the GULF war, the French Army realised
that it was necessary to air condition the tents accommodating
its staffs when on operations under ambient temperatures
of +55°C.
By combining its own experience in the Cold Logistics
and Air Conditioning areas together with the ones of
the specialists in this line of work within the French
Land Forces, and French Air Force, ZHENDRE created a
broad range of tent air conditioners of cooling capacities
ranging from 6 to 23 kW which ones are today used by,
in addition to the French Army, the Eurocorps, the Belgium
Army, the Spanish Army, to only mention these.
The “shelter” air conditioners, of which
THALES AIR DEFENCE is the main customer, complete this
range of “ZHENDRE” air conditioners for
military purposes.
